Stadler Pankow is supplying 11 three-car and 15 five-car trains to GoAhead for the Rems-Fils network and nine four-car and 10 six-car sets for the Franken-Ems network. Contracts to operate both networks were awarded to Go-Ahead in November 2015.
The authorisation granted by the EBA covers the entire fleet.
The trains were presented to the public for the first time in Schwäbisch Gmund last Saturday.
Abellio is also due to take over the operation of the Neckar Network from June 9, although here the rolling stock situation is somewhat different. Abellio will use DB Regio class 425/426 EMUs, Agilis class 440 EMUs and Albtal Transport (AVG) class 450 tram-trains to provide temporary cover due to the late delivery of new Bombardier Talent 2 EMUs ordered for the Neckar Network. The state’s Ministry of Transport says this will enable the new timetable to be operated “almost fully” albeit with fewer seats than intended on some services.
